Engine cover paint M600
Hi folks,
I want to tidy up the paint on the camshaft end covers, and rocket covers on the M600. Anyone know where I can get the paint for those? Would like to keep it looking original. Thanks in advance! Nik |

Mine is a 1993 produced engine. TBH I don't know if its correct colour but it looks superb whatever to then eat your dinner off.
Those rockers are a weird grey green. I noticed my top one has bleached a bit I guess because heat collects in there but front and rear were fine. It needs 5o be heat proof. I think I found a Volvo halfords can similar but not matched with an original. Mine were painted an awful metal flake gloss black. I may redo them and use a heat proof paint as undercoat and then use as a top coat. Also Darkness may have an original. My frame is off soon to be sprayed professionally this time. 20799506_10214218728167282_4873785314948449656_n by Andy Patterson, on Flickr 21231732_10214376633994829_7355339179558278354_n by Andy Patterson, on Flickr 21369339_10214403347102640_714572809446530124_n by Andy Patterson, on Flickr The engine was removed of all paint and heads and barrels and valve covers vapour blasted. The clutch and generator and crankcases were etch primered and painted aluminium heat proof Simoniz aerosol from ebay . The gen cover and clutch case were then spray over a more silver wheel colour and then satin lacquered Simoniz again. The barrel again Simoniz matt black heat paint I never painted the heads and left bare.

Yea if its early '93/94 model then Albie would know. They did change the colour on later models however. Dont know off the top of my head when. There's also another guy on here who does a lot of 600 restos who's name escapes me atm.

I know it's a '98 750 but my best match for my plastic belt covers for the cases and rocker covers was Halfords Anthracite wheel paint with petrol resistant clear lacquer, (the wheel paint comes off with petrol as I found out). It's still there a year on.
