Smile I'm new too.

Hi, Just popped in here to say hi, so, Hi everybody. Thanks to the Admin whos authorised me to post this and especially to Chris Pullen for introducing me to

In the long and distant past I briefly owned a 900 SS Darmah. Ace on long bends and the straights but a bit of a 'pain' around the gnarly bits.

Now, a week last sunday I got myself a Monster 696 +, a 2013 model, Ducati red 'tank' & black frame. It's a completely different beast. I'm so enjoying my Duke after so many years on Jap bikes and a couple of Guzzis etc.

So I'm no-shot (to be changed later) I'm glad to be here. I live in Worcestershire, and of a certain age who should know better.

Thanks all for the welcome. Yup, Chris, you got me. I've looked up that post about flash upgrade. Very interesting...... We have a new Ducati showroom, sales, parts the whole deal coming shortly here.
I cannot wait... so, a 14 tooth engine socket is the 1st thing then.

You might not need the 14th on a 696, but it is a cheap try, most important bit is get the ecu Rexxerr flashed, Neil at Cornerspeed is on holiday at the moment but should be back in a week or so and does postal service on the re flash.

Hi no-shot.
Good bike choice!
I've had 14t front sprocket fitted and Rexxer reflash by Cornerspeed (posted ECU).
They were both done at the same time so it's hard to say which is most influential. 14t front sprocket has to be the easiest and cheapest mod going though.
Since the changes the bike is much smoother, it's now a breeze around town, and the acceleration is much quicker. On normal roads up to (ahem) 80-90 it will keep up with most bikes. If you do longer distances and motorways you might prefer to keep the taller gearing (and better fuel economy) but for my Sunday afternoon/evening jaunts this set-up is great fun! I'm going to The Classic TT this year and I think it will be perfect on The Island but the ride to Heysham may be a bit of a pain!
After three years, I can't see me getting rid of mine until I'm too old to get my leg over it (oo-er missus)!

@Maggsy seems a good deal. I find it a bit choppy at low (read legal) speeds, so a 14T maybe what I'm looking for. I'll probably get the flashing done first though. I only intend to ride solo and on 'jolies' so not much fussed about mpg, atm.
