Bike knocked over

Never experienced this, idiot drove into my bike on Friday. Has caused about £159 worth of cosmetic damage.

He walked off and so far has not provided any details, he lives a few doors down. Apparently bikes shouldn’t be parked on the road!! Wtf.

What’s the best way forward here? He has txt me today saying he will give me his insurance details.

Beyond angry at the mo.

Threaten him with calling the Police, as he has left the scene of an accident with out giving details, that is a criminal offence.

Really sorry to hear that, Jimmy. I had a bike knocked over in a car park a few years back but the driver coughed up without argument. (It was only a Honda though!)

Why don't you try putting his reg. no. into the road tax checker website? https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax

If it's not taxed, and you let him know you know, he might be a bit more cooperative!

I can imagine your frustration but I would be weary of getting too argumentive at this stage, in case things get worse and you get more intentional damage!

Don't claim insurance or even make them aware there has been an accident involving you. Even if you are 100% not to blame your insurance will go up next year.

Agree 100% about avoiding any talk of insurance claims, it will dog you forever does not matter whose fault it is and insurers could not care less. My last bike was knocked over by a visitor to my nieghbour. Similar sorts of cosmetic damage, I asked for £100 in cash and we left it at that. Don't get onto bad terms with anyone, even though they may be a bit twatish. I have done some silly things in the past and paid up in cash on the spot it works wonders.
