New from hove
Hi picked up a 09 1100 evo from Leeds last Sunday evening and rode it back south.... great bike first stock pipe that actually sounds good.
Only one gripe.... The headlight is positively the worst that I have ever had the misfortune to use... I might As well have a candle burning at the front..... What’s the experience of the collective with the stock light? |

It seems to be the rule that the lights vary from naff to mostly naff, with a few exceptions.
The 750's I had were less than inspiring to ride in the dark and my S2R is equally bad. I had a CB500/4 that had a better light pattern that got even better with a cibie Z fitted. The light is there but the beam pattern is really bad and there isn't much choice of alternatives for the round lights. The split new generation lights are probably more limited on options. The 748R I have... day time I'll take on virtually anything, gets dark and a good 125 is a challenge only because I can't see where I'm going!! Then it is essentially a race bike and the only night time road racing is endurance. Carrots anyone??

The stock light on the evo is useless. Sticking a good bulb in there still doesn't make it very useable. Ideally I would suggest replacing it with something that works if you plan to ride at night. There are a few people that have done that.

If you can get an HID kit for your headlight, that will improve things eg a lot more brightness. I'm running one on the S4 and it is a lot better but the reflector isn't great on those old 70's round lights so the light pattern is less than ideal.
Rubbish headlights seem to come as standard on all Ducati, my 748 is crap too. I have to use hi beam on that all the time in the dark just to see anything and its not great for on coming traffic but they blind me with there lights so what, we're even?

Welcome Goose. Not far from you, or Mart64 for that matter, in Haywards Heath.
As has been mentioned, the lights are great in my experience either. My old dark one was like having sidelights only |

Welcome along- I'm a few miles West along the coast in LA so not far away either.
As for light improvements, I ride a 1997 900- try that on a dark night and afterwards your 1100 will be amazing!!

I have a 2013 796 and the headlight is not the best compared to my old speed triple.
I'm in Surrey so would be good to meet up...Don't seem to be many monster owners that meet up in the london/surrey area? |
