M1100evo replaces my 696
Greetings to the forum. I have been checking in for some years now and really notice the quality of the contributors, they actually know stuff and are willing to share, not just rant! I have just taken over the controls of a 2012 1100evo. I had thrashed my 696 for the last four years and enjoyed every mile with no issues. I love my new machine very much but have had a little scare after only a couple of hundred miles. After a bit of ducking and diving through the London traffic I accelerated away from a brief stop for traffic lights and shock horror the over rev/dtc lights came on and the bike would only stagger away. I could only carry on at a limp so pulled over and decided to risk switching it off. After a restart all was well again and I have since put a couple of hundred faultless miles on the clock. Is this sort of confusion in the evo's brain something I will just have to accept from time to time? The bike is so lovely I only want what is best for it. Also, I feel a touch of 'carbonio' addiction coming on again!

Best monster you have there now!
Mine did that too when I got of the IOM ferry going through Liverpool, turned it off and on again and it ran all the way home, never done it since so haven't worried about it

Thanks uksurfer,
I did panic a bit at first but as all seems ok now and knowing that it has happened to you as well and also got better is good to know. I was dreading standing on the carpet in the local Ducati showroom and trying to describe the problem and getting a big blank 'what do you expect me to do about it?' look from the salesman. Also a big thumbs up to 'the best Monster'! I guess that's what every owner thinks about their own choice of ride but it is obvious to me that there is no question! wink Tim |

That never happens on the 1100s. Must be something in EVO software only. Never thrashed it often but always behaved itself.

Can't say I have ever had that happen. I hope you enjoy the Evo. I know I do, can't stop looking at it in the garage. Enjoy!
Oh and riding it as well! Last edited by fastnfat; 19-04-2016 at 12:56 PM.. Reason: Added |
