new here - portsmouth
Hi all,
I'm new to the site and hopefully to Ducatis in the next week or so. Looking to get a monster of some sorts, any recommendations? Preferably a larger engines version. Also wants tips on what to watch out for Cheers Jon |

Hi, welcome
An idea of budget would be a good start. If money no object and water cooled is ok, an S4RS, if aircooled wanted S2R or 1100s/evo. |

Welcome to the forum, Jon.
You'll not be disappointed when you ride one. And the one in Dirty's link looks like a pretty good deal to me, in many respects. Try a few though, perhaps. You may find that a smaller engine delivers enough. I'm still happy with my 750 after 7yrs ownership. Injected models avoid the carbs icing in the winter, but pro.fst in the fuel will cure it anyway. Personally, I like a carby as its unlikely to present me with huge bills to repair the electronics. But then I guess I'm old school, these days. |

Hi John, Welcome
Normally a good time of year to get a bargain if you dig deep enough. Maybe good idea to decide what you will be doing or planning to do when you get your new toy as this may help decide which model to go for, the comment about engine size is valid. I opted for the 800 over the 1000 when I got my S2R and have loved every moment since the only other model I would now change for is the S4Rs should the right one come along ! The S2R is the only bike that I have ever owned that gave me the same euphoria as my FS1E @ 16. Happy hunting |

Generally town riding and the odd 'A' road, not normally on the motorway.
S2 sounds about right for me. |

800 has wet slipper clutch allegedly better for around town
When you find a bike maybe worth paying a bit extra if any goodies are included pipe etc. Have a look around forum for advice on what to look out for. |
