Is this really true? How come?
I mean I can definitely say that my bike's better for being 'used well' on a regular basis... Is it all to do with keeping all the moving parts moving/lubricated by use, and not allowing the contacts time to lose contact? |

this bothers me as I'm about to collect a 2005 S4r with only 2k miles on the clock, hope it doesn't fall into the "hissy throwing" category of bikes

Most bikes don't enjoy being unused.
I'd say that the only extra factor with a Ducati is the belts sitting in the same position for ages. But you'd change those anyway. |

Very true, mine's a 2001 M600 as well, just sneaked past 21k the weekend.

Mine sat for 8 months, I was wanting it to crank to prime the oil circuit but it fired instantly on the first compression stroke. |

My 94 900 has about 110 thousand on it. By the time it was round the clock the gearbox in particular was getting a bit noisy so treated it to a Baines Racing engine rebuild. Just back on the road and after some fine tuning of the Flatslides by Dynotech in Glasgow, it is back to its old fantastic self!
Unfortunately the three year old tyres don't seem to offer much grip - they are probably so hard they will never wear out! Last edited by DavidT; 02-08-2012 at 10:07 PM.. Reason: Typo |
