Grossglockner S2R

A Multistrada owning pall of mine was in Austria a couple of weeks ago, he was on a bus trip going to see the Eagles Nest - hitlers hideout! Passing by the Grossglockner glacier he met a couple of people from england riding their S2R 800 with tent and everything, they was on a tour of Europe, said they was on their way to Poland.

Was it you??? I'm awestruck... wife and me went to Snowdonia north Wales a few years ago on our S2R, it was great fun but we came back home again next day very happy but both knacked lol. Hope you got home safe and sound and enjoyed you trip.

Someone spotted me first time here and that's in Austria. Cool

To be more specific, I think it was your cousin from Tamworth (?) He mentioned you.

We did it in two weeks.

We've done Wales before, as a warm up and then decided straight away to go for touring seat and hawk cushion for pillion. That sorted everything in terms of the comfort.
No issues with the bike on Alpine roads, even though it was carrying over 30 stone in total.
It was brilliant

We made it to Poland. Stopped in Germany for couple of days and then home via Netherlands, Belgium and France. Got home safe and sound. Thanks

I have the DP touring seat, what is a hawk cushion?
What luggage do you have?

We had small cruiser one.

As luggage, I used Ventura pack system behind the pillion, Oxford panniers (30L each), DP tank bag and Kriega R25 back pack.

I could use Oxford gear, as I have Ex Box fitted.

There was a bit of planning involved in terms of what to take and what to leave, as we were restricted by the weight limit for all the luggage.

My miss had to pack and repack her pannier three times and during that process, she dropped from 15 to 4 pairs of knickers.

Had to readjust panniers in Davos and put them higher and out from the wheel, as one of them started to tear off. Luckily spotted in time. Otherwise we would probably loose our precious and deficit knickers somewhere on the road.

Looks great mate.
I am looking at underslung exhausts at the moment and also trying to get hard side bags, as next year we will go back to the somme and the road from Arras to Albert will be monstered.

Cheers guys.

Hard panniers would be definitely a safer option. Mind you, I was happy with soft Oxfords. You just need to keep an eye on them and check from time to time belts adjustment.
For me Monster would be a perfect touring bike if it would only have a bigger tank.
But as I'm a smoker I wasn't really bothered by that.

Thanks Bex. Didn't have a proper camera because of lack of space and the one I had was dead after few hours.
I didn't know Switzerland has different to the rest of Europe power sockets so couldn't charge it. Most of the pics taken from iPhone.
