April 16th - Bristol Italian day

I know its not strickly Wiltshire, but thought it would be a good idea to have a thread for the event. I imagine there will be people coming from many directions to it, so maybe a few smaller meeting places would be an idea and then all accumalating into one to ride in.

Details;
1. £2 donations by the motorcycle and scooter entrants will be co-ordinated by the Ducati Owners Club on arrival. Please have a £2 coin at the ready. Any surplus money will be donated to 'Help for Heroes'
2. It takes place in Corn Street in the old city part of Bristol.
3. 2011's main featured marques are Farrari and Benelli.

Proposal;
1. Those coming from the South meet at Salisbury on the A36 filling station on the LHS just before the Churchfields Ind Est sign, on the way out of town towards Wilton.
2. Those coming from the North or East, meet at J18 of the M4 at the burger van on the south side of the junction.
3. Those coming from the West / Wales, meet at M5 J19. (See below)
4. If you wish to participate in the mass ride-in you will need to arrive at the M5 J19 Gordano Services from 8.30 for a 9.30 departure.
5. If above isn't suitable, how about we all meet at Riders Bristol?

Let's have a few peoples thoughts on this, numbers and names maybe?

Bumpity bump for the next 'Wiltshire' event. How many do we have that may come if the weathers fine? It could be a whole weekend of fun with On yer Bike Aylesbury's open day the next day as well.

I am planning on going, I only live a short distance from the Gordano meeting point for the ride in, so I shall go straight there.
I don't really want to spend all day parked up (blocked in) in Bristol City centre though, so after the ride in I will try to get parked up on the outer edges of the show so I can slip away when I have had enough.

That makes alot of sense! I've not been before, so being blocked in is possible then?

Yes.
Once the ride in from Gordano reaches Bristol City centre, all the riders are marshalled in to the very narrow streets of old Bristol where they are parked up, with bikes parked either side of the road & pedestrians filling the area it can be very awkward trying to get away before late afternoon.
The show is held in the streets of what is possibly the oldest part of Bristol, A maze of narrow streets.
If you are doing the ride in, try to hang at the back, once you reach Bristol it will give you time to try & suss out a parking spot on the outskirts of the show & lesson the chances of being blocked in.

If you hang back you won't get a chance of picking a spot to escape from, in fact you'll be lucky to get a spot at all and as for parking together coming late, forget it. I've marshalled there before and last man in has very limited choices.
Best spot to park to escape IMHO is on Marsh Street or the paved area by the Cafe Gusto.
The best place to meet is at Gordano itself, it's a little fresh in the morning so I'd crack on down and get a coffee when you arrive if you have time. It's also a good chance to catch up with friends from previous years.
Make sure you bring a camera as well, there's loads of Italian porn to photograph.

What a cracking little event this is. Apart from falling to sleep after the alarm went off and then having the lie in of all times and missing the ride in, it was a great event. I met a few others there, Stafford, Liz and James and think I spotted Desmo in the crowds but lost him!
Plenty of scooters, Aprillia's, Jota's, Guzzi's, MV's, Dukes of course, Fiats, Lancias, Farraris, Lambos and Maserratis as well.
I didn't get a cornetto though.

Maybe next year.
