New member with starting woes

Hi to all i have just joined . I have a 03 800 sie 8000 miles. i use it rarely
however at the moment it will not start. switch on egnition everything lights up press stater and just one click that it. i bump started it once but dont like to do that.

Going through the different posts i think its the relay or starter solenoid
first question where can i buy these items. Battery is fully charged and 11.5 volts are getting to the solenoid.

I have shorted the soleniod and the poor thing still did not start up . Do you think it is the relay or solenoid or is it worse than that the actual starter.

Sorry to start out with a miserable note i just want to get out and have aride befor the summer is over

cheers to all

PS i have checked all the obvious such as kill switch and stand

I really think its your battery given that you dont use it. Try jumping off a car but not in the literal sense.

No problem when trying it with my s4 when I had an immobiliser loose connection. Your only trying to turn it over. Once connected press starter and if nothing happens you know its either relay or starter then. Car battery is much stronger than bike battery thats all. And I used my diesel battery which is even heavier duty. Give it a go unless you have a jump charger .

i used to jump off a car to start my old bike, i also used to spray a bit of easi start or similar down the spark plug holes, not sure if right or wrong but it helped after winter storage

What's the volts on the battery itself?
11.5 at the solenoid which feeds straight off the battery is quite low, like Albie I'd be checking that properly first with a set of jump leads just to get a good voltage and the amps to kick the motor over. If that works then your battery is just collapsing under load which happens to old or infrequently used batteries. After that the relays.
