Question S2R 800 low idle speed

Is it possible to raise the idle a little without messing up the mixture? My S2R idles at about 1000-1050 which makes it feel a little lumpy when I'm getting off the lights fast!

It's just had the mixture set up by Rosso Corse, unfortunately they're closed until Tuesday and I figure if there's an easy way to raise the idle I'll give it a shot!

adjust the throttle stop screw to raise it a fraction

you could also put a 14 tooth sprocket on the front.

this will mean you rev the engine a bit higher higher when cruising at low speed which should cure the lumpyness

it also gives you a bit of an acceleration boost at the cost of a little top speed

Which one's the throttle stop screw? And will adjusting it screw up the mixture in any way?

Funkatronic - thanks for the suggestion, Ray put the 14 tooth sprocket in a few weeks ago!

As someone said, don't alter the throttle stop or the throttle body balance screws as these are factory set (you will see paint marks on them all)
To raise the idle speed, simply wind out the air bleed screws a quarter turn at a time, this will have a minimal effect on the CO% & it only effects the the bike at idle.
The ony way to alter the CO% to a larger extent is by connecting to the ecu via DDS or VDSTS.

Mate, if you dont know where they are, prob best to leave alone in this instance........
they are only used for fine idle tuning - but if you do wind them out you could make the engine run lean - and coupled with the fact you havent got the race ECU to go with your cans, then you could open a can of worms that could be expensive.....
prob best to get it booked into one of the several dealers you have been speaking to today, to get this sorted out as soon as possible.

So - have you got it fixed?
And if so - which dealer/tech did you use in the end from the ones you called?

I actually decided to leave it be for now. It's idling at 1100 or so...I spoke to Ray at Rosso and he reckons that's where it should be. It's just that before he set the trim it idled higher at about 1300 but wasn't very steady (would occasionally dial itself up to 1400-1500 while standing still at lights) so methinks Ray is right. I'll just have to rev a little more when I take off!!
