Insurance - repairs - update
Well ebike have been getting the gears in to motion. Solicitor on the case for personal injury side and courtesy bike is on its way.
Squiffything, hats off to you my man! Is a very kind offer but wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to your bike. On the repair side they are potential saying it needs to go to an authorised garage. Now my bike is at Rosso Corse and they are the only people I trust with my bike apart from one or two others recommended by you guys. Now as the bike MAY have suffered some internal damage when it was dropped on its side, I DO NOT want anyone who has no clue of Ducati engines to play with it. What do you think my chances are of making it stay at Rosso Corse - seeing as it wasn't my fault why should Joe Bloggs who in all fairness probably does a good job on Japanese bikes be allowed to play with my Italian beauty????? Also in no uncertain terms would I let someone like Metropolis touch it as well.

Stick to your guns, you are the customer, and ebike should recognise this.
Its prob cos they have deals with 'authorised' repairers, who they already pay direct for work done. If RC do accident repair work for any insurer then this will help your case. Check with trading standards if you have to, if this 'request' is within the law. Afterall, if you had a bashed Harley, you wouldnt expect it to go to a Kwak dealer for repair and vice versa. Neither would you expect to take a bike/car to a non-qualified (in that marque) mechanic/dealer for repair. Good luck C |

No probs and the offer is still there if you need that Duke fix
No worries about the beast it may well be going in a few months to be the deposit on a Hyperwotsit it all depends on me justifying my need to have one against it's limited use throughout the year and me not having a garage to put it in. Good luck with the insurers and with finding a sparkly new bike if yours is viewed as a right off |

Tell ebike, that there more of there customers (me) interested in how they handle your claim... I've been with them for 3 years but (fingers crossed) haven't made a claim yet... my renewal is due in March, so if they balls your claim up they may loose another customer too. Darry. |

Check your policy wording, it should state their stance on how repairs are handled.
Usually they should accept that it can be repaired by a place of your choosing, but if it's not one of their approved repairers it will a) take longer to sort out b) you will probably have to pay for the repairs yourself initially and claim the money back c) they wont be held responsible if the repairs aren't up to standard, that will be between you and the repairer. |

Am currently in the process of getting my bike repaired through e bike.
I live in Colchester and the closest authorized repairer was in Dagenham (!) plus there was no way I was going to let some jap specialist greasmonkey touch my bike. I told them I wanted to use my local dealer - Parkinsons - and they were fine about it. All they said is that they couldn't guarantee the repairs, but as long as you trust the dealers work that should't be an issue. With regards to paying for the repairs, even if you use a non authorized repairer you still pay the same as with an authorized one - payment of your excess on completion of repairs. Hope this is of some help. |
