bikini fairing - Help!!!!
Hello all,
Got back to my 695 this evening to find that some inconsiderate sod cracked the perspex screen on my front fairing getting their bike past mine. I know who it was too, a vespa with one of those clip boards on the front - needless to say, I'll be looking out for him tomorrow! Anyway, has anyone got/know anyone who's got a standard replacement screen (just the clear bit) that I can buy or trade or borrow. Does anyone also have a big ****ty stick I can use on the vespa as well? Many thanks Lucati |

If you have no luck with Stu, have you thought of repairing it yourself, then spraying it satin, or gloss black. Did this with mine and it looks really good. Although with mine a replacement was a no go, as ducati or even the company that makes them don't do spares for the alloy fairing.
I had a complete corner break off mine, repaired it with two part epoxy resin, two stainless washers (as it cracked right through the bolt hole). give it a good rub down, cleaned it off. Then started with the plastikote primer (2 coats) with a rub down in between each coat, then 5 coats of plastikote satin black, with a rub down of the 1st 4 coats. Left in a warm place for a few days. Fitted it and it still looks good after nearly 2 months. p.s. I must add, that all of this took about 4 days, with the repair, preparation, painting and the rubbing down between coats. It might seem a bit of a fart on, buy when your only alternative is to buy a complete new DP fairing, you can see why I did it. Cost me about £16.00 in total. Thank you all, I gave Stu an e-mail to see iff he has any clear parts available and then in my lunch hour yesterday I made a vac forming pattern and then vac-formed my own new screen (I'm a toy designer) It's a bit thin but it'll do until I get a real replacement - needless to say, I still have the mould so if anyone else needs a replacement let me know.
Cheers for the paint suggestion too DD - I may spray it up if it gets grotty. |

No probs
It's just that I was faced with a £130 bill, or do a bit of work myself. Err, not a hard choice Baz |
