Fuel Tank Insulation
The material insulation thing under the tank has become all crumbly on one side and a bit messed up so I thought I'd just get a replacement as they can't be that much.... they're £130!!!!???? (48610562A)
I might just stick it back down or something |

OMG really? Do as Rob says then lighter bike instead of lighter wallet! It doesn't do anything really except get in the way when dropping the tank back down

Ah I thought it actually served a purpose, I'll chuck it!
Re headlight, I just returned the LED one and put the stock one back on. Couldn't be bothered with the faff |

Someone on here had a clear out and was giving one away, that's all. Don't know if you saw it.

I recall swapping a tank some years ago and being equally unpleasantly surprised at the cost of new part. I reused old insulation in the end... Just a cautionary thought (with no real knowledge/expertise behind it - far more knowledgeable folk already commented), but could this padding serve a thermal insulation purpose? To stop engine heat overly heating/expanding fuel in tank? Or overheating the plastic tank itself? I always presumed it was for that rather than noise insulation... but I defer to slob! Anyway given UK is not exactly Italy hot it may not matter in any case... but maybe worth a thought?
