796 Idle Speed on Start Up
Hi folks, really enjoying the 'new' 796 but one minor thing that keeps happening is the bike deciding to idle at 3500 rpm on start up. Once on the move the revs do go below 3500 but rise again when clutch in. Pulling over, turning off the ignition and restarting fixes it and it idles at ~1500 rpm as it should. Not happening every time. Any ideas? Thanks.

No sorry, no ideas but that's definitely not right. Mine starts up at about 2k revs if it's cold and virtually settles down straight away. May be the TPS needs resetting?
Not sure if ours are like the 1100 evo where you can do this simply yourself? |

You could try a 'hot reset' of the TPS. 'How to' details here:

Cheers chaps. I'll see if it continues to happen and if so try the ECU reset procedure first. Better do that at work so my neighbours don't have the joy of the bike running outside the flat for too long. Even the stock cans have a certain warble.
