I've got 39mm FCRs on my 900/944 and have up to now kept the airbox. However, I'm now in the process of dumping the airbox and running K&N pod filters.
So, if you want to, you can keep the air box. You might need adapters for the airbox connections, but as the initial installation of the FCRs was by Baines in the late 90s, my memory might not be right. P.S.
