M900ie MY 2000 Starter switch and solenoid options?
My brother is having starting issues that we are working through...
Good info here on starter upgrades that I've noted. His (original) handlebar assembly is VERY worn-out; I tried JHP for a replacement for 65040062A and they appear to be not made anymore??? I see little point in buying a used item from a breaker and wonder if anyone has tried newer - I actually have a Hyper 1100 start switch (somewhere) so will be looking at that but my splicing skills are not brilliant! Next, Starter relay replacement 39740011A JHP quote £40 which is not excessive but, is there something better? I read somewhere of a Yam unit being good. Electrex was my first choice but their's is generic (eg not plug n play). I change the solenoid on my 900SS for a unit from from a Mini car of all things, it needed an earth of its own and was larger then OEM but worked well for years. Thanks in advance. |
