exhaust gasket problem
im putting the exhaust after polishing back on the 1997 M750 , when i got it it did not have crush gaskets in the exhaust ports ,, but ran well ,, now i have the correct ducati gaskets but cant get it back together there is not enough clearance , to get the split rings or nuts on ???? seems this bike may be one of the ones that does not use the gaskets ???

Perhaps the original gaskets are still actually in situ. They fit so snugly that it's not always evident that they are in there.
If they are still in the head, try using a screwdriver to prise them out. |

I've been fooled by this in the past too, on my old Yamaha. They might be still in there just hard to see them.

I have had a look in my parts bins ,, and found some other fibre ex gaskets that are thinner I think the ones sold to me are the wrong type they are 6mm thick,,, the ones in my old parts bin are not crushable they are fibre 2.5mm,,,, will use them

I've got a couple of unused exhaust gaskets in the spares bin (037084005). They appear to be a graphite disc sandwiched between thin, almost foil-like, rings and they are about 2.7mm thick.
