M900 Alternator Cover
Hi there!
I need to inspect my alternator which I assume means taking the engine cover off. Do I need to drain the engine oil or is the alternator in an "oil" free area? My bike is a 1994 M900 Mark |

you need to drain the oil (you can do it without if you’re prepared to lay the bike on its side)

Are you aware that you need a special puller to remove the alternator cover, plus some Ducati sealant when you put it back.
And don’t forget the last screw hiding next to the clutch slave in all the chain lube. You can remove the cover with it in place if you persist, but it scraps the cover! Whilst you’ve got it off, check out the alternator cables to the voltage regulator and the starter spray clutch too.

The puller is easy to make just a oblong of steel and 2 bolts some drilling and tapping
