MCN Article

I was contacted today by a well known journalist who's doing a piece for MCN, presumably linked to the new 1200 but looking for owners of all earlier models, since he's aware of how emotional we can be about our rides.
It's due in a couple of weeks and he's looking for a short piece on "What my Monster means to me" or "Why I love my Monster" along with a photo of the owner/owner and bike (not just a pic of your bike please)
Sadly he's out of the country this weekend so can't make the Weekender, although I'm sure we can rustle up a few good pictures for him.
If you'd like your fifteen minutes of fame in MCN sometime in early June let me know by email or PM ASAP, the publishers' deadline is next week.

he's just dropped me an email:

...What I'd love to have in MCN is a page of Monster owners just saying what their Monster means to them. Just a quick line and a pic of them and their bike, or just them, or just their bike, although MCN do like people and not just machinery. It can be why the Monster is so good. Why they have kept it and not sold it. What it means to open the garage and see a Monster. Basically why this bike is so cool...

Okay folks, with the weekender fresh in your minds (or not) please send me a short paragraph and a picture of yourself/you and your bike. I have some great stuff so far but we probably can't get enough ;-D

Trouble is, its almost impossible to say anything in just one short paragraph that does justice to the way I feel about my monster.
I'd need a whole magazine article just to get close, and even then its not easy....I've tried before.

I guess I could offer the song that I wrote about mine a few years back.
But that has five verses, each four lines long (though no chorus), so even that is probably too much.
And I have no suitable pics of me and the bike.
But happy to submit the lyrics if you think there's any chance of them being useful.

275 views and only 6 people prepared to actually send me something, I'm somewhat disappointed to say the very least

It probably reflects peoples view of MCN rather than of your good self..

It's not about me, it's about the club!!!
Whatever peoples' view of MCN, this is a chance for some great publicity. I estimate we have around 1800 members (whatever the count at top of page says), whilst only 200 or so are particularly active on the forum, this is the UK Monster Owners club after all. 60 odd people showed up for the rideout last Sunday but less than 10 feel enough passion about their bikes to write a few words and submit a photo, it actually makes me want to chuck it all in... of course everyone will feel differently the minute I don't put in hours of work to get them discount on WDW tickets for instance. Not to mention we haven't seen our living room carpet for about a year because committing to sending an SAE for a t-shirt was too much for 100 odd people.

and yes, thanks Flip you're one of the (now) 8

Slob, you didn't want a story from me. If you have changed your mind now you have seen my latest Monster, let me know and I'll do something for you. I've owned 6 Monsters in the last 6 years.

Sorry Rally, crossed wires... I just meant it wasn't your old mate
as an owner of many different versions that keeps coming back, you're probably ideal

And what I think Rob was trying to say is it shouldn't matter what people's views of MCN are, this is to represent the club, and given the effort he and others put in to do things for the club the least people can do is put aside petty views on publications in order to give good representation on the club!

Is it that hard to see?!
