Monster S4/999
Please be patient for pics (not taken any yet).
The 999s testastretta engine is in the frame. Things that are needed to do next are; Make and weld on out rigger bosses for the 999 black swing arm, to the frame. Move the shock rocker arm mounting position over on the frame to align with the swing arm shock mounting point. Remove the x-brace in the frame to fit the 999 airbox with 999R throttle bodies/shower injectors. Then re weld new bracing into position. Make adaptor lead for 999 inj to S4 loom. There will be many more problems no doubt but pics and updates soon. If anyone has a front 10 spoke Marchesini with the provision for the speedo drive spare, please let me know, as I am fitting a 999R rear wheel. Here are some pics of the rear shock. As you can see the shock is too far too the off side on the frame. The top mount has been removed and new mountings moved over to the near side for correct alignment.
The shock is temp mounted on the studding to ensure correct alignment is possible. An Ohlins shock will be used, with a remote reservoir. |

Here the internal bracing has been removed to allow fitment of the 999R airbox and throttle bodies.
New bracing will be added, to coincide with the notch on the 999 airbox. The front bracing was also taken out and new bracing will be moved slightly forward. |

The engine will be rebuilt with 999R sand cast cases as, this engine suffered damage from a broken chain.
New bosses will be made, to connect the swing arm to the frame, to support the swing arm pivot. This is usually done on the S4RS by using a rear set assy that bolt to the engine. |

Hi Andy, welcome aboard. Glad you're out and about again.
I was sharing a garage with you at Brandsa couple of years ago and still wince at the thought of your shunt (I imagine it's nothing to your feelings about it) and the state of your 749 when we hauled it into a van. |

Thanks slob, that was over 5 years ago now! I never had the misfortune to put the bike in the van.
It was a 748. It did ride again, although with a new frame. What was you riding? My memory of the day is still a bit doddgy. |

I was on an M620 dark. As I recall your 748 was quite heavily disguised as a Desmosedici. Very nice before the impromptu modifications.

Going to use raised clip-ons. I have machines the yokes out and taken off the above yoke bar mounts.
I have a new in the box DP S4 steering damper kit (916 style) hopefully I can use that. Need to source a track/race seat and front cowl now. |
