S4R rear sprocket removal
I am struggling to remove the pentagram shaped flange that holds the crush drives to the rear sprocket. it appears to be seized to the axle. Am I missing a circlip or key that holds this on?
I have a feeling that this may well be the first time that this will have been removed in 13 years, so there is a good chance that it might be very corroded. so far I've tried WD40, gentle heat & not so gentle big hammer. I don't want to damage the flange, the sprocket itself moves on the axle ok, its just the flange that's the problem. Also can anyone tell me what length chain I should have, the manual I have is for an S4R with the tetastressa engine, with says 103 + 1, but I've also seen 105 but I can't remember where. Dave |

The steel sleeve of the cush drives often get stuck in the sprocket. Lubrication and force.
It's 104 links. |

Thanks guys.
The exploded view is the same as the ones that I have Darren, so no hidden clips. The flange is seized on the axle, must be very corroded, I need to try & remove it without damaging it. 104 links including the joint? Dave |

It should include the master link. Put a blob of tipex or paint on a link to mark it, count the side plates and multiply by two.(when they say ‘links’, they actually mean ‘pins’)
