Speedo dial

Being the friend? who lifted WAH's monster (no apologies, he's never getting it back) and now in the process of metamorphosing it into a more Kevin look and feel (sorry, not sorry WAH) Does anyone know where I could get hold of a speedo dial with a red graduation scale to match my tacho? 2001 M900Sie dials are dark grey.

Oooo, they's nice Darren.

My M1000 has the dark face dials with smaller numbers and I can find them hard to read sometimes depending on the light.
Something like these would be great.

However, as Gaz says, getting the needles off is a terrifying process that can result in damage.
I gave up trying to get them off my 1000SS clocks and soldered new resistors in place on the PCB/A through a hole instead.

Both my M1000 and 1000SS have fully electronic Speedo/Tacho on a PCB/A, not ones you can swap out, and if you do change it for a complete new Dash you need to disable the immobilisor.
Does the 900ie not have the same?

Hi Nasher,
No, immobiliser came in later. The 2001 is blessed with simplicity. Different graduation scale colour isn't a biggy, just a nice to do, but new clock is an expensive option and replacing the dial is beginning to sound like a nightmare.
I may jus keep it the way it is. Vive la difference.

Yes - for the 2000-2001 900s. However, 2001 MY S4 has analog clocks, but also came with a red key, and an LED that blinks for 48 hours after you switch it off to tell you the immobilizer is activated...

In fact, the ebay link that was posted? That tach face is for a 2001 S4 if you look; see the key icon with the legend "lock" where a 900ie would have the oil warning lamp? (2002 S4 clocks had LCD panels for the odo/trip, if I'm not mistaken.)

If the seller will do custom, should be able to get what you need. Although given what Nasher & Gaz say, I'd be planning on someone else to swap them around...

I'm not clear exactly what you're after; Valter Moto on Flea Bay had NOS US and/or Euro 900ie speedos and matching tachs (grey face/red scale/white numbers) at one time, if you just wanted to settle for a matching set.

Hello and welcome Kevin

You're probably going to be better off looking for a whole speedo.
The top is very hard to get off as they are glued on, the needle is even harder to get off and harder still to get back on.
Mileage will be wrong on a different speedo of course, but chances are it already is if the dial is wrong?
