M900 mpg
Hi Chaps
Can anyone give me a real world MPG that I should expect to get for my newly rebuilt M900? Thanks |

It depends how hard you are trying (To go fast, or economically), but 40 mpg is somewhere in the middle of those.
10 mpg is achievable though with sufficient effort!

My M900Sie is a slightly different animal to your (presumably carburated) M900?
There are also two versions of the M900 with different sized valves so there will be at least 3 versions of mpg figures. I can get 68mpg from my M900Sie on a long run without sparing the horses, the secret being to stay in the top two gears for as long as possible. That should return a range of well over 200 miles in theory. I once went as far as it would go until it ran out and returned 54mpg after going 196 miles. That was doing very short local trips and city runs. Details of the experiment here. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...l+light&page=2 Your mpg will be quite low as the new engine beds in and you get used to it and settle into it's rhythm. You should see well over 50mpg I would have thought, once you can hold higher speeds in top for longer, But it's surprising how much it will vary with different use.

You should be able to go 120-150 miles comfortably.
The worst range I have heard of was 130 miles on a highly tuned S4R whose owner did not know the meaning of frugal! He carried a can like me to see how far it went.

I had to push one very heavy M900 for 3 miles through the very hilly Cotswold countryside this afternoon....on the plus side the journey was 100 % carbon neutral.

About 10 miles per litre so a theoretical c140 miles per tank but I fill up after 100 miles to avoid pushing.

Thanks .
The pushing was due to a fuel leak and not rider error.. |

Me too. I zero the trip milometer each time I fill up, but have run out before 100 miles!

I agree with the 100 miles fuel check, I might push it to 120 if I’m feeling saucy. The same on my 916, I have had the fuel light pop on at 80 miles and then at 120, I just don’t want to risk it.

Yep, agree with the other carby owners- my light usually comes on somewhere between 100 and 120 miles- although it is giving fair warning.
I have run it to 150 on a long distance cruise but I was panicking from 130 as by then I was in the middle of the French countryside.
