Alternative headlamps...
From reading threads here, the impression I get is the standard headlamp fall a little short of ideal.
There are other options available, but anyone have specific recommendations? Has anyone bought/ tried one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1623163526...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Have been looking at this myself recently. just that my lens has been cracked by a stone and wanted to try something different but would not change the look of the bike. i was tempted to get a unit from a scrambler to see what that is like. not keen on the dual 'streetfighter' type

I like the way that the 10mtr/yard marker is illuminated in the first picture of the dipped beam pattern.
The main beam seems to have more penetration too, but it isn't clear what the comparison pictures are of? Be aware that the light unit will not fit straight into the Monster shell or rim. It says in the blurb that you will need another shell, so it's all starting to work out rather expensive. The shell will need M8 threads in either side and will also require a couple of spacers to make up the width to fit within the Monster headlamp brackets.

The pricing isn't too bad until you realise that the casing doubles the cost. There must be a similar unit thats cheaper?

It's a shame it doesn't fit the original monster headlamp shell, or will it?
It looks quite good on a monster:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/Motor..._qi=RTM2063729

It won't fit a Monster rim as Monsters have a weird continental size lamp.
They only seem to appear on Monsters and old BMW R100 ect. I do have a cunning plan to make an adapter to covert the Monster to take standard 7" lamp units... What that looks like remains to be seen. In the mean time I have ordered one of these for evaluation, as it's only a tenner. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-inch-Mot...3D162341443978 I will probably bin the reflector and glass from it... There's no pilot light anyway. The thing is it will open the floodgates to any 7" reflector/lens unit and also choice of bulb fitment, i.e. H4 or whatever or even LED. That LED unit would probably fit into one of those Jez if you binned the rim that comes with it.

.... You mean this adapter?
http://motowheels.com/i-13578432-cor...sion-ring.html It's something like this that I have in mind, but not for $100 plus postage, plus VAT, plus custom duty, plus exchange rate. More like made in my shed with a router..

I have the jw speaker version of this light unit fitted to my s4r, corse dynamics do an adaptor ring that fits between the light unit and the bezel, I had to replace the standard retaining clips with some lucas ones to hold the light unit securely in place, the jw speaker unit is the same one that motodemic supply with their kit and it is very bright.

Jeff I think its really simple stupid expensive bulbs do make a little difference but the light will never be any good as the std reflector is total SH1T

Given the popularity of these lights on 80's BM's and Lavs and Ducs I'm surprised there isn't something available more reasonably priced for us this side of the pond. I'd be interested since I want a better light but want to keep my C/f bowl and bezel.
