Evo throttle cable adjuster size

Went to adjust the free play on the throttle and the nut was seized so in my ham fistedness got two pair of grips to try undo it after a squirt of penetrating fluid and I snapped the end off. The cable is fine and still operates fine but looks bad. Does anyone know what the thread size is as I was thinking about cutting the rest of it off and replacing with an adjuster that has a slot in it such as this on eBay

Cheers Ryan

I can't get in to measure mine, but the outer cable thickness is 5mm so I would think it's more likely to be an M6 thread. Maybe someone can confirm?

That's a pain, Ryan. If you mean this bit that goes into the twistgrip, it's M10 x 1.25.

Venhills have the complete cable and may be able to get the adjusters from them too.

Cheers guys I’ve measured it (why I didn’t think to do that in the first place I don’t know) so will have a look and see what I can get. Don’t fancy tank off to do the full thing that’s all

Everything from Brooks Barn is at least +100% over normal "commercial" pricing

As Darren suggests, Venhill have an incredibly extensive range of hardware and their prices are reasonable too.

This is probably what you need (and it's only £2!)

Post up a photo, Ryan, so we can see what it looks like fitted. And maybe some moly grease on the thread to stop it seizing again (the lock ring will keep it secure).

Well it’s done. I only actually used the new locknut as the depth of the Venhill adjuster and the original as to where the outer sleeve sits where totally different and I wouldn’t have been able to tension it correctly. So snapped the old locknut off cleaned it all up and screwed the venhill nut with slot in it as well as a little rubber boot and here is the finished article. Shame I can’t test ride but never mind.

That looks very neat, Ryan. Proper factory! And all for just a few quid, too.
