Ducati John / S4 SPS cams

Got my S4 back on the road today, its been fitted with SPS cams by Ducati John, seems a top job.

Only taken it 6000 rpm so far as I need to make sure the fueling is correct by taking it to a dyno centre but the cams so far seem a good investment, thought they may have screwed up the bottom end torque, not at all, its smoother and the induction noise is wonderful now!

fully tested now, can't believe the difference, where it hit a brick wall before is now is the start of it waking up all the way up to the 10,000 rpm mark

That brings back memories! I had one of those as a commutetoworkhack for my first job after leaving school. It was a 1973 model 'L' registration, same colour as well. It never once let me down despite constant abuse & lack of maintenance. The engine was so sweet, revved like buggery & would happily cruise all day at 65mph. Looked like a real heap though, even then!

i've been thinking about changing the cams on my s4 ( i've aleady fitted a stage 2 ecu), but was unsure as to which ones to use. Are the sps cams the same as supplied in the factory kit? or are they just a better option to fit?

Aye I did, will post it later.

Torque 67 ft-lb
Power 107 BHP

The dyno chappy said he could have squeezed 110 BHP out of it but wasn't any point in thrashing the b*ks off it.

The above values are at the back wheel so well up on standard, most manufacturers use at the crank values which distorts matters.

Well worth it, £25 is all they charged me.

remember you saying that you had a bit of flat spot around 5k, no flat spot in fact in pulls like a train, bit of a dip at 7.5 but can't notice it on the road.
