New UKMOC Forum
Hi Folks
We've been working on putting a new forum together in the backgound with a few of few key aims New, up-to-date forum software. Looks better on phones and tablets. Simplifying the structure and tidying up a bit. Fixing the photo upload issue. I think we're mostly there, we'll need to take the forum offline for two or three days at the end of the month to migrate everything across without losing anything. The test forum is based on a backup from April, so if you had an account before then you;re already set up. If you've signed up since then, you may need to sign up again or if you've changed your password you may have to request a reset, This whole (old vB) forum is under 'vBulletin Archive', everything there is read-only, with a banner at the top explaining you can use 'Report' to request the thread be moved to a new (live) forum. That way we don't lose anything. I think we've sorted most stuff now, so if you're interested, head on over to https://test.ukmonster.co.uk/ for the rest of this week and take a look, have a play around. You can use 'Report' post to let us know if you encounter any problems, or post on this thread to let us know what you think. Feel free to try every kind of device you have PCs, Macs, tablets, smartphones, different web browsers. The forum is blue, rather than red and uses the original club logo with the double ring 'O' so it's obvious you're on the test forum, remember: anything posted during testing this week will vanish when the real migration takes place. Cheers and ride safe Rob -- Last edited by slob; Today at 10:09 AM.. |

Very well done. Thank you!
Will there be buttons for Unread posts and maybe for New replies in posts I have made/written in ? Like we have on the DMF. Donate button? |

'User account' > 'Your content' and you can set all sorts of notification behaviour under 'User account' > 'Preferences' Unread threads and posts are listed in Bold, read ones in Regular font Looking into the 'Donate' button, it may take a little longer ;-) Last edited by slob; Today at 12:21 PM.. |

Will all the old stuff be in one big basket or will it be spread over the relevant sub forums/chapters?

thanks Lars, I look into the unread/new replies question.
the plan is to have the migrated content as it is on the test forum now, with all the existing subforums as they are, in the (searchable) read only archive. It’s become way too complicated on here over 23 years but we want to keep all the info. If for example you find the thread: ‘vBulletin Archive’ > ‘Technical’ > ‘Engines, Clutch, Gears’ > ‘ Belt Change’ and you want to post something on it, you hit ‘Report’ and ask the moderators to move it to ‘Technical’ > ‘Engine’ > ‘Belt Change’ and it’s no longer marked read only does that make sense to you? ‘ Last edited by slob; Today at 12:51 AM.. |

This is a major landmark moment for UKMOC.
Our beloved website/forum became obsolete many years ago and earlier this year became a big headache for Devstars, who host the site on their server. They have made it quite clear that they can no longer support our quaint website. I know Rob has been working on replacing the site for a few years and has spent thousands of his own hours toiling away at it. As mentioned the replacement became urgent this year, or late last year. I have followed Rob's pain with this since then and he has worked nothing short of a miracle to get the new site into shape and working. Jonzi and Kato have also been assisting Rob where possible and I have been the ignoramus tester at times to prove the site is idiot proof. This has been made financially possible by the many generous donations from yourselves during the UKMOC Merch drive last year. Thanks all for buying badges, key fobs and stickers and playing along with MOCbay. The merch continues to be available by the way and UKMOC remains free to join and participate in. Please log onto the test site https://test.ukmonster.co.uk/ Have a look around, try everything out. Press as many buttons and twiddle as many knobs as you can and see if it breaks. Please report what you find and what you managed to break! Please excuse the rather banal and abstract posts so far that we have put up to try things out, by all means add more. These will not transfer when it goes live at the end of the month. You'll get due notice when the site has to close down temporarily at the end of the month and after that you should be able to find the new site the same way you find this one. Many thanks to Rob for this and all concerned. Cheers. Gary

Nice one ... I'm really looking forward to the photo issue being fixed as I've always struggled with it despite being fairly PC literate.
So a BIG THANK YOU to all those involved in this, and I may even start putting together the story of getting my Ducati back on the road. It won't be a good Buzzer's () but then again, he's had a bit more practice .... |
