Tank size?
Managed 204.4 miles on 1 tank of fuel and could only get 12.5 litres in when filling up.
Anyone know the true size on M600 tank so i can can work out my MPG as i think its well over 50MPG? |

Slightly confused, you don't need the tank size to calculate MPG just distance and fuel used.
4.55 litres to the UK (Imperial) Gallon so 12.5l = 2.75 IMP Gal 204.4miles / 2.75 gallons = 74.33 mpg Tank size would be useful in calculating maximum range. Andy |

It'll be over 50 on a 600.
I can get about 70 out of my 750, that does require some throttle magement (going slow which I have real trouble with) so I usually don't bother . Also I start to get worried when I've done over 150 miles on a tankful, my IE was literally on fumes by that distance.

Bear in mind inaccuracies of spedometer when calculating mpg
Most read 5-10% high and it gets worse with speed, so true mpg would be lower than calculated on most bikes. 50mpg is a good average on most monsters, and 600's should manage between 55 to 60mpg if not thrashed. Plastic petrol tanks hold roughly 3/4 gallon less than metal ones.

I checked my 620 (plastic tank) when I first got it and I used to get around 55mpg thrashing it round town (assumed speedo to be accurate). The only time I ever ran it dry was 147 miles hard use round north Lincs. Last edited by slob; 23-07-2010 at 02:59 PM.. |

The most I ever sqeezed into mine from bone dry was just shy of 15L, so the 18L claim by MCN is bollocks. That's the penalty you pay for carrying around the contents of a plumbing catalogue The trike still averages 50mpg

Think you should have an 18l tank on a 600, MCN agrees with me at least It's quite impressive that you've got that far on 12.5l - best I ever had out of the 695 was 62mpg, I'll normally just put 10l in at a time and it lasts a little over 100miles though.
Not sure why but they cut the tank down to 14l for mine. Makes it quite annoying for rideouts because it's always the first to run out of fuel |

Crikey, all this sounds fanciful to an S4RS owner with a 13L tank... to hell with practicality!

I've been working out over the last 1000 miles or so that my 996 S4 been getting approx. 55 mpg and thats not hanging about. It didn't seem to change much when I put the later chip in either.
