Fitting Restrictors to a Monster
So last night I set upon fitting the 33bhp restrictors to my M600. After reading the instructions etc. I set about the task.
With the seat removed and tank lifted Remove the complete Air Filter to exposing the carbs The restrictor plate sits on the manifold side inbetween the rubber hose that mounts the Manifolds to the Carburettors, with the point of the triangle cut out facing forwards Loose the hose clamps and pop separate from the manifold Remove the rubber hoses and fit the restrictors to the underside, so that when replaced back on the manifold it the restrictor will be at the bottom. Then it's a matter of putting everything back together. The restrictor plates were a perfect fit and the instructions suggest you use some silicone or alike to assist in the sealing of the restrictors. I have attached pictures 1-6 |

I never really bothered with the restrictors, as long as you don't 'rag' it around then you have no reason to be stopped and a monster with restrictors is like alcohol free beer

Yeah I know, however it's not for me, I have sold the bike and the chap thats brought it did not want to take the risk of riding without them. Personally I wouldn't bother but that would be my choice.

...or you're involved in a serious accident and the forces of law and order inspect the bike. In a worst case you could find yourself in jail for manslaughter.

I considered not fitting restrictors but then I thought owning a monster and not ragging it around a bit is like ordering vegetarian bacon!
That and the fact that there are a few features on my bike that could bring me the wrong sort of attention. I might get away with 'I'm sorry officer, I'll remove that and fit a road legal one asap' but not if they then decided to check the unrestricted output. |

That's fine, but restricting a carbed monster that's not running well anyway (mine wasn't) with a 33BHP kit that was made for a factory running monster not a 15 year old machine thats probably putting out 40BHP anyway meaning that mine would have been pushing about 27-30bhp tops
i know plenty of people who were involved in crashes (not their fault) and the bikes get taken away but never checked for restrictors or 3rd party bits. |

The chap who bought pegboy's bike is me. Loving it so far. I know and understand what people have said about it not being worth restricting these bikes because they're not particularly powerful/you'd never be stopped etc., but if I WAS ever caught I'd technically be driving without a license. For me that would mean losing my job and ruining my career. Rules for doctors are fairly strict - it just wasn't worth the risk to me.
What I will say is thank you to Paolo for taking the time and effort to fit them for me - it was the difference between buying the bike and not. I hope the £50-odd I spent on these bloody washers will mean that other people don't have to, as they can be replicated. Bang on with that one mate, keep the washers in and then you've got nothing to worry about, hope you enjoy the bike, it looks quality, I've had two 600's and I absolutely loved them.

Same for me career wise. Though my M600 is restricted I didn't go down the washer route. Roll on January when the beast will be unleashed!
