Possible new Monster owner....

Hi Folks

I'm thinking about buying a 2001 750M with 13000 on the clock and Termignoli's.
Have always had jap bikes and currently have a Hornet 600 which i intend to keep, always fancied having 2 bikes and my 2nd bike to be a ducati!
Any tips for ownership or for what i should look out for on the Monster.....How much is it worth etc
Thanks for any help you can give me

Look for Full service history.
When were the belts last changed, should be done every 2 years or 12k miles.
At 12k miles it should have had a full service, check that it has.

Honestly I think you've spoilt if for yourself by buying a hornet first.
Its so much faster than the monster.
The monster might stop better and handle better but the hornet has about 25-30mph on it.

I love my monster but my freinds Hornet leaves me standing as does my other mates SV650

Well i've had 2 R6's, a CBR600RR etc, not interested in top speed anymore and my longest journey is 25 miles max hence the Hornet...just fancy a Italian bike as well in the garage at hopefully a bargain price.

An SV650 or a Hornet shouldn't leave an M750 standing, no way.

I reckon a hornet would, all depends on the rider though. A 750 is about the same as a 620, maybe a tad more torque.

The SV and the M750 have the same torque 45.7 ft.lbs. The SV has a tad more BHP but that will only come into play for top end. I would guess that the M750 will make the torque quicker lower down thus give a tad better acceleration. The Hornet makes 46.5 ft.lbs torque with a lot more BHP so on long straights then the Hornet will loose the M750 but on general day to day twisties then my money is on the M750 as it has a better frame and should handle better and get the power down better. Overall there is nothing in them all really. The 620 makes 39.3 ft.lbs - these are all the earliest models, so later models may be higher.

Having said that I have left both Hornets and SV650s for dead but that was on my 748

My wife has an SV, and I reckon it would beat a 750, alot revier but if you keep the revs
up it is fairly quick.
