Hello there. M900 Refurb

Good Morning all,
I was pointed over to this fine forum from the Ducati forum what with this being Monster specific. So my apologies if there is some repetition.
My friend has asked me to help refurb his '93 (I think - not quite sure) M900. It's not standard but has great sentimental value so he's looking to revamp it and make it look better after 3 years stored in a leaky barn.
The battery has leaked all over the frame, the wheels are pretty shabby and the engine and every bolt has furred up. Hmm quite a task. Oh and one of the front cylinder studs has snapped.
Anyway I have stripped the bike down and I am looking for suggestions/ recommendations for places to get paintwork sorted (preferably around Manchester) also best place for replacement bolts? Or should I just look on ebay for them?
I think I have sourced HD replacement cylinder studs but any other suggestions, advice and tips are more than welcome. I'll attach some photos when I figure out how to compress them enough to get on here but there's not much to show as I got giddy and just got amongst stripping it

Hello again Kev.
Guilty as charged!
It certainly looks like a ‘93 with the yellow painted rear suspension hoop and some other early details on it.
We like photo’s here, but unlike the other lot you need to use an external host here with link. Photobucket used to be popular, but many have dropped them when held to ransom.
I now use Postimage.

Welcome Kev, search this forum for a thread titled "Back with a M900 series I", there's enough reading in there to keep you busy for a while. If you are heading for a rebuild to, or close to, factory then go with original bolts, beware of Ebay for stuff that is just advertised as Ducati Monster, parts fit is a minefield across the years.
It's a great forum to turn to if you hit a problem.

Morning Kev, welcome aboard. Do you know Mike at Ducati Manchester? Pop in and have a word with him, he has recently had paint done on his scrambler and is pleased with the results. Btw he is " mutley " on this forum.

Thanks for all the replies. I will certainly speak with Mike at Ducati Manchester as they are on my doorstep and I'll go and look at Pro Bolts website.

Unfortunately I uncovered this today


Naff all showing on the stud. Anyone had any luck drilling? I know they're stainless so might be a pain.
Strip and machine it? or maybe spark erode?

We're on the same journey, except I'm taking it in two stages, get it working and ride it for a bit, then off the road for strip and tart up.

Same stud on mine snapped. Luckily it snapped mid stud so I had something to grip on, had to grind some flats to get any purchase though.

Took a fair while with penetrating fluid and heat, two turns out, one turn back in, bit more heat, bit more fluid and repeat. It was in pretty tight.

If you've got access to a machine shop, then with what you've got left, I'd go down that route.

Ouch! Probably worth taking the other seven out before going to the machine shop: just in case.
How is the barrel looking?

Barrels are ok. I was going to change all of them anyway but had hoped there was some stud to get a grip on. Never mind. I'll strip the cases right down now at least that way getting the paint sorted will be easier.

Well the other 7 fought me all the way but they are now out.
I think I'll have a crack at drilling the broken one out. Just very carefully.
