Rossi injured.

Valentino Rossi suffered a massive 120mph highside during FP2 at Mugello.
He was stretchered off obviously in extreme pain.
He has broken his right tibia and will not take any further part.
This obviously has massive implications for the championship and for Rossi's career.

Gutted for him

I expect he will miss the next 3 - 4 races and it'll finish his championship season. With Stoner struggling to finish and Pedrosa still off Lorenzo's pace, it looks like Lorenzo will have an easy win in 2010. Pity as it was shaping up to be a good season, but at least there's GP2 to keep the interest.

They said he hasn't missed a race since 1995!

Also last week they were saying how stoner only had a chance if Lorenzo and Rossi completely missed 2 races

Its amazing what a plate can do, back racing in 2 weeks time for some. He has the spirit, let's see if he does or not. Poor old boy, we are all wanting him back i'm sure.

Displaced and exposed fracture - by that I take it they mean its come through the skin, I doubt thats a two week job.

Thats a different story, mine took 14 months and 11 operations to sort out. I feel for him now.

They have just announced it is a compound fracture and will be pinned, the news is looking better after all...............

You've gotta wonder if he'll be back at all this season, 3-4 months to heal, another couple to get back to full fitness, would there be any point coming back for one or two races this season?

Let's hope he makes a full recovery and comes back fitter and faster next year

You all seem to forget that the healing time of a top level athlete is generally a lot faster than us mere mortals. Didn't Lorenzo ride with two broken ankles last year? I'm not saying Rossi will be back next round but don't expect to see him missing half the season.

They might as well do the shoulder op as well then as he had planned to have it done at the end of the season.
