Factory applied grease was much more tenacious back then, quick wash off and fill the tank any you'll be golden

Its amazing to look at that and think how far suspension, brakes, tyres and engine management technology has come in 80+ years.
Not to mention the use of plastics and composites like carbon fibre.

But let's also have a look at what's been lost too. There you have as standard, two stands, one for each wheel, a tyre pump clipped under the tank and a tool kit with enough tools to change a tyre and do essential maintenance.
There's also a pair of generous mudguards capable of protecting bike and rider from road merde. The chainguard, while not a full enclosure, is still copious enough to keep most of the filth off the chain and keep nearly all the lube off everything else.
Factory fitted pannier racks, handy for spare ammo and enemy artillery co-ordinates!
M1100 and similar bike owners eat your heart out at the battery access..

I only ever use Apeks and yes spot on was the Thistlegorm, going again just after Xmas

Us too, with Apeks, bulletproof, thousands of dives, never an issue... Live aboard after Christmas I am guessing? The Red Sea is a top wreck diving choice... First did Thistlegorm in '95 I think, did it again a couple of years ago, a lot more silt now, but still very special. Did it in '97 on NITROX, Buddy and Me alone on the wreck as the air divers left, it was an amazing feeling
