Unusual headlamp.. Can you identify?
Rac3r is trying manfully to fit a 7" LED unit into his Monster. Unfortunately my adapter kit has not worked as this does not appear to be a normal metal Bosch rim and shell.
The shell is ABS and does seem to bear a Ducati trademark? The rim has no rolled edge to hold wire clips, rather has inward facing tabs for screws. I think this needs a metal subframe to support a 7" unit? The aperture in the rim is 180mm. This is too small for a Bosch unit and too large for a 7". Please can anyone identify the shell and rim? Could anyone also please indicate if there is a sub-frame which would allow a 7" unit to be installed? Rac3r's rim against a Bosch. Note two holes in the shell to screw the rim in place via the tabs.

Thanks guys..
Has anyone managed to fit 7" lamp into these? I can't make an adapter that will pass through the tabs and not fall straight through the rim hole! Plus the tab retaining system presents problems. My adapters were made for the metal Bosch.

Is there a UKSCOC forum? IIRC Stopintime has a Sport Classic.
I don't know if any on here have '07 S4R's or S4RS Testastrettas which may potentially have the same unit fitted? I'm sure there are some.

Guaranteed a job that was meant to be fairly simple has become a pain in the...
Appreciate all the help from Gazza and the rest of UKMOC If it's going to be too much trouble I may just return it. They do do a housing to go with it but then it would look odd with the headlight fairing and I'd have to mess about with brackets to fit |

It looks like all the lens units on the SC1000 fill the rim, so no subframe involved by the looks and so not a 7" unit.
Az, It looks like a very tricky job to get a 7" in that rim and shell, but before you send the unit back why not ask if anyone has a spare Bosch shell and rim going on here? That would almost certainly be cheaper than one of their adapters (which wouldn't work anyway!) I could then send you an adapter that would work with the Bosch.

I almost certainly don't have a bowl but I think I may have a chrome rim but if I actually still do have one left over from my Laverda build it will be near scrap, like scratched and scarred up.

I have had a couple of bikes, honda and Yamaha both had 6.5 inch headlamps. Replaced them with M&P 7 inch aftermarket headlamps. they look ok and use H4 bulbs. Should fit on a Ducati.

A 7" shell and rim is the other option of course, so long as it's indented at the rear to clear the cables like the Monster one. also it will need a spacer either side for the bolts to go through, as it will be narrower than the brackets.

I think it's easier to get the proper Monster one to avoid any other random issues. Will have to take a look on eBay or something
