4 Front Disks!

Anyone fancy having 4 front discs up front:

I think that's the same set up as fitted to the new Brough Superior. looks good.

A weight saving and a significant reduction in gyroscopic inertia due to the diameter being reduced from 320mm to 230mm.
But stupid levels of complication.

I've never seen anything like those before.

There's an Indian ice sprint bike in the current issue of Bike magazine which I think has a similar setup.

I figured it would be about 3k. If you have carbon wheels already then go for it, if not then that would be a better option if you want to decrease the gyroscopic effects noticeably. But then on our pothole ridden tracks we call roads you might be even better with an 3k off road style bike!

And then don't you have the issue with getting enough heat into them so they work properly? Personally I don't see the need for these on a normal street bike with the level of power which any sane person would need.

The standard Brembo snowflake discs and calipers are just fine for most normal riding situations and even though I have some Brembo Clubmans which I intend to install at some point which are full floating like the cast iron ones but without the rust/weight or cracking issues. I don't really need those either really but, they look so much nicer/better quality than the standard ones and I got them for a steal anyway, so hey why not?

But I agree Carbon-ceramic brakes are overkill, I've got M4 radial calipers on full-floating Brembo discs on my Monster and it's got as much braking as you want with just 2 fingers.

My 916 has the HPK caliper/disc setup which is even more powerful, more progressive and can cope better with heat, and they are all the brakes you'd ever need on any bike IMO - they're not cheap either but nowhere near the price of the 4 disc abomination discussed above.

Just don't see the need and they're not even that lightweight...
