S4R won’t roll in gear with clutch pulled in

Come to ride my bike after a few months but I noticed the above symptoms.
The clutch doesn’t feel soft and I can see the pressure plate moving in and out.
Tried rocking it in gear to free the plates but no luck.
I changed the fluid last year and rode it after with no issues and it was working fine the last time I used it.
Any ideas?

does it roll backwards, or is it stuck both ways?
sintered brake pads can attach themselves to the discs with rust fairly solidly, so if it’s stuck in neutral too, i’d look at the brakes first.

so not a seized starter motor then :-) since that's on a one way (sprag) clutch

I've had the same thing when the bike has been stood for a while - strip the clutch, clean both sets of plates with brake cleaner, reassemble, jobsa guddun.

I was thinking of changing plates to surflex ones anyway. So I might just use this as excuse to do it.

I think someone on here sells clutch plates, I can't remember who though.

could be missaligned clutch back plate ,, i have seen this twice ,,or clutch pack is to thick ???

Do you have an open clutch cover?
Do you wash the bike after using it and get water on the clutch?
Do you ride on salty roads and store the bike in a damp shed etc, unheated?
You can see where this is going - the clutch plates will rust and stick together if you do any of the above and leave the bike stored for a while, and give exactly the symptoms you suffer from
