for any blues fans that don’t already know it, check out ‘Bluesbreaker’ by Star Fleet Project, EVH and Brian May bringing out the best in each other.

Very sad indeed.

I’m a guitarist and personally I wasn’t a huge fan of most of Van Halen’s music, however his innovation and talent had an immeasurable impact on the guitar world especially, and it undoubtedly changed the musical landscape forever. He was truly iconic, and as time goes on that’s a word we use less and less.

Surely the epitome of a ‘Rock God’. He lived it, for sure.

Good luck finding that CD. I was aware of Brian May's Star Fleet thing iirc it was a Sci-Fi tie in with some transformer like toys/tv series.

Amen to that Uncle Bob. Changed the musical landscape? yep. He moved guitar playing up a level in the 80's same way Hendrix did a decade before him.

It's not so much what you play as how you play it. Hendrix was not a great technical player unlike Eddie was but he opened a lot of doors and Eddie took that and did the same exact thing moving it on some.

The first 2 VH albums are without question rock classics and if you're not already familiar with them then you don't know rock but Fair Warning was always a favorite of mine. So I will play it now, very loud!

Yup, It was based on the theme tune to (I think) Gerry Anderson's last puppet show, which one of Brian May's kids was a fan of. Bluesbreaker was just them jamming in the studio after discussing their mutual love of John Mayall and Eric Clapton, according to May it nearly got stashed away and never heard by the public. I've got it on vinyl.
