Is my M900 missing something?

Is this correct?
Or is my 1997 M900 missing something?

The wiring harness for the side stand sensor just hangs loose around the front of the engine and must flap around on the move.
Should there be a bracket, guide or something to keep it in check, possibly attached to one or two of the case bolts?

I wondered if it should pass through the redundant looking loop on the guide for the oil line in this image, but there just isn't enough slack in the cable to get it there and still reach the sidestand afterwards

Thanks

Nasher.

My 1999 one is the same, never caused a problem.

Mine is a bit shorter and runs neatly along the angle of the casing.

Nope, nothing missing but you could make that neather by pulling it up. However you're missing the battery breather pipe unless you're using a closed one.

The harness was hanging out all over the place when I brought my Monster home. I managed to end up with plenty of length on the side stand switch cable when I knitted it back in. So it goes through the horizontal loop on the guide, and looks a bit better for it.

The horizontal loop also takes the rubber drain hose from the airbox, with the rubber gob on the end.
I took Utopias advice and shortened the drain to a stub and pushed the rubber gob back on to the stub, out of sight....Neater.

I don't have grommits in either loop though, so thats something I will be doing.

....Liking the new avatar btw..

Thanks Guys.

The bike has come to me fitted with a small gel battery that is so small it's floating around in the battery box. I'm sorting that later today with some very stiff closed cell foam packing. But of course it has no breather.

There is also no airbox on the bike as it's fitted with two huge K&Ns.

So I'm missing two breather pipes rather than one cable guide.

I ran that cable over the top of the engine (with the clutch hose) and then tucked it neatly around the slave cylinder & sprocket cover.

Those type of connectors have a slot for clipping on the little metal tags on the frame, however some on mine do not reach either. P-clips are sometimes a good solution.

Of course the best solution would be to get rid of the sensor and hence the wire, but that would rely on me remembering to flip the stand up.

Do I trust myself..................

I usually remember and when I don't the first left turn sorts everything out with minimum fuss
