2004 Colours
I have been looking on the web for a colour match for my 2004 6 speed 620ie.
The wheels are a blue-ish colour , which match the belt covers ,the valve covers and the crankcases. Everything looks original. Just want to touch up a couple of spots. The engine covers are what I would describe as a black crinkle finish. I think I saw an 800 monster with wheels like these but I am unable find any images. Might try a trip to Halfords and have a look at the car colours to find something close. Any ideas ? https://ibb.co/WF6WBWY Last edited by Graham04; 23-06-2021 at 11:23 AM.. What is the main paint colour of the tank/front mudguard?
I don’t think black crinkle is standard Ducati, almost everything around ‘04 was a slightly metalic silver. Last edited by slob; 23-06-2021 at 10:59 AM.. |

The frame is silver all the plastics are red . There are no signs of anything being painted. The tank and front mudguard paint is poor eg flaking and bubbling, the rest of the bike looks straight and undamaged, the crinkle effect may be the result of it spending years under a sheet. The link shows the bike, still can't manage to insert an image directly into the post.

Frame colours for Monster in the bottom section, for a Red (PPG 473101) bike I'd expect it to be BASF 332.7078 (same as the engine and wheels) although the engine looks paler to me. silver smoothrite is a good match for the engine cases Last edited by slob; 23-06-2021 at 11:19 AM.. |

The tank sticker on mine is silver rather than the white . The colour chart is handy. It may remain a mystery, although I quite like its current colour scheme. Perhaps the factory ran out of paint and sent the apprentice to the wrong shop, or is that a British thing.

The factory in Bologna used to do some pretty random stuff, although since 2002 things are generally more organised. You do come across the odd 'using up leftovers' spec. from time to time. For instance, the switch from metal to plastic tanks was spread from '02 to '04.

If the other paint work is flaking/bubbling then I’d say that’s been done too
