new bike for me
Ok seriously thinking about upgrading my Sie 800 for something more powerful. I have about £5,500 to spend, any thoughts, Oh and the Sie 800 is for sale, its blue with the white stripes, carbon fibre effect belly pan, side panels, and high level original Remus (Ducati Sport) Pipes, sounds gorgeous, its a bit miley with 25,000 but good service history and the usual engine paint peel. But i digress, more interested in what you think about the upgrade.

I recommend an 1100s or 1100 ego for that money.

I'd probably go for the S over the Ego!

So is it really as much about a change of style as wanting more power?
If so then I too prefer the S over the Evo based purely on the styling but if you really love the style of the early bikes I might look out for a 1000ie (if you could find one) being the last of that look without all the plumbing of water cooling and would give you some extra ponies if it was down to simply wanting a change of bike. However, in reality I think I would spend the money on the 800 (which has easily got enough power for the road) getting the suspension sorted and maybe a few other goodies and a refresh where needed. When it's all done you'll really be able to exploit the power and handling to the full and I wouldn't worry about the miles as long as you've looked after the oil changes etc. It's sitting around the Ducati's don't like- all the best ones I have seen have been used.

Cheers Flip, i really want to have a change, had the 800 for 3 years. im not really arsed about the water cooling and the extra pipe work after all its a monster and still the coolest looking naked on the road. Do like the v4 tuono though. i think its gonna be a 1100s or evo

There are some other differences besides the exhaust, the 1100S came as standard with Ohlins all round and the shock has a rising rate linkage. not cantelver like the standard bike.
Over the standard 1100 it has lighter brake disks and carbon covers, mudguards etc. I think the evo has a wet clutch, not dry like the 1100 or 1100S and didn't have the fancy suspension and other doo dahs.

The Evo has a more powerful engine 100hp vs 95hp, not that that would make a huge difference though.

The S2R1000 is the bike I would go for if I didn't have the M1000sie which I am extremely happy with.
