Personally, I think Rossi should have retired a couple of seasons ago whilst his form was better.
In his prime, Rossi was one of the best. Watching his 500 two stroke leaving long strips of rubber whilst exiting a corner was entertaining. His battles with Biaggi etc were fun to watch.
His continued involvement in racing strikes me as a positive move forward for the sport.

It had to happen at some point, glad I've got my tickets for Silverstone already.
I went to muggelo in 2016 to watch the motor GP, amazing place and atmosphere that I will never forget.

About time, he hasn't won a race since 2017 and he's stopped younger riders from getting a ride for years by wobbling round promoting the Rossi 'brand' not to mention his long history of knocking other riders off, ask Sete, Casey & Marc.
He's more bothered about t shirt/cap/flag/pencil case sales than the actual sport, good riddance, jog on.
Other options are available

One comment sums up the whole of the Rossi era

"your ambition clearly outweighs your talent"

Good bye you'll not be missed

Its a shame his time is coming to an end, I've watched him race since his 125 days and thought he brought a lot of eyes to the sport.
It would have been nice to have seen him podium in his last year but I think thats unlikely now, but there is a wealth of new talent beginning to show and Rossi is no small part of their successes now.
I cant see a rider to replace him in the public eye though, that mix of ruthless racer and bright cheery personality was fairly unique and possibly Sheene was the only other I think of like that.

It’s always been interesting to see how Vale has polarised opinion, I suspect that Dorna will be gutted to see him go ,as will most circuit owners. “Keeping good young riders from a ride”....mmmm, not sure who they might be, have been....certainly there will be plenty of VR46 vendors looking for work....
