Helmet and Leathers insurance.
Last month some mong drove into me and caused me to have a crash on my Suzuki GSX1400. I made a claim against him as it was clearly his fault and all was going very slowly until he claimed it was me who rode into him, he said he was in the inside lane and I changed lanes and hit him, on the inside. I didn't realise I was riding on the pavement, so we are in a fight he can't win as I have a witness who saw him move from the outside lane into me.
Anyway all the insurance has changed tack as we are sorting out liability. So my helmet and leathers insurance have been in contact and I have to prove I actually owned the gear I was riding in, so unless I have receipts for my riding gear I have to provide pictures of me in the gear or pictures of the gear in my home (apparently it's in the small print of my insurance document) which we all read, right. So unless you have receipts for all your bike gear I suggest you all take pictures of it so you can prove you own it before you have a crash. And after an accident take pictures of the site, the other vehicle, the other driver and selfies of you and your gear to prove you were wearing it at the time.

There are a lot of lying ****bags out there who will say smidsy to de esacalte things but then tell their insurance company a different story where you are to blame.

Years ago I had a woman drive into the back of me while i was stationary waiting to enter a roundabout. Knocked the bike out from under me. She agreed liability at the scene and said her husband would come round and pay cash settlement. Obviously that didnt happen so I went through insurance. 18 months later was still unresolved due to her disputing events so it went to court - where she told the adjudicator that I had reversed into her!
It should be a funny story. Laughable. Except I lost a days wages for the attendance and lost two years worth of triple premiums because my no-claims was 'in limbo' during renewal. Never got any of that back. |

I had a bump on a roundabout 10m years or so ago and when I tried to claim from the woman she said that she had not been involved in an accident with motorbike in Weston Super Mare so knew nothing about it.
I sent the insurance her picture, her car, my bike and pictures of the road signs. She fessed up and paid up.

I had a Woman do the same to me, except I was in a car so could be more believable.
Luckily there were several witnesses so it all got sorted but claiming you reversed into her on a bike is hilarious... With regards to Helmet/Leathers insurance, I had a claim many years ago and all I was required to do was get a quote from a reputable shop/supplier to replace mine and they sent me a cheque* made out to the shop for the amount. * shows how long ago it was then...

Had the same with a helmet I claimed for. Luckily I had the PayPal receipt and photos of it on the day of purchase simply because i sent pictures to a WhatsApp group saying ‘look at my cool lid’
If not for that then I’d have had my claim denied. |
