bicycle specific tools:
i bought a budget (£25) brake bleed kit, a pair of syringes and adaptors and some bits and bobs. worked ok once with dot fluid but despite cleaning meticulously with brake cleaner before storage, second use it was useless. the plunger rubbers had swelled and everything was a PITA, involving lockwiring adaptors in place and cursing a lot. third time I didn’t even try to start working. bought an sram branded ‘pro’ kit (£100) absolutely faultless so far and included about £30 worth of other tools and parts i’d had to buy separately. of course the real proof will be next time out. i should have known better than to try the cheap option buying tools! |
