No worries, no offence taken. It's amazing how many people reach for some sort of solvent, even in boatyards where the stuff is used all the time. Acetone for instance will slow the cure down a bit and smear it about nicely to make a bigger mess, but water is epoxy's enemy, it kills it, so obviously don't let it get where you do want it to go off.
