For that much you should be able to pic up a nice 1000DS Monster which is a cracking bike (I'm not too biased... see mine here -

CX500? Nasty.....
To be honest you're gonna struggle against a Tuono in terms or raw horsepower unless you're looking at an S4RS Testastretta and if you find one for 4 grand that looks ok, it's a bargin!!!
