I'm always misjudging yumps too, bloody nuisance. Kind of a similar story was a friend who wanted to move a half finished project across town so rode it only for the front mudguard to come adrift & rotate under the front wheel meaning he was then ridding with a front skid! Not recommended but only really damaged his pride.
Have also fitted Lithium battery & suitable reg no problems. Bitza
