Interestingly Chinese automotive outsource heavily including design services ... to Europe and USA. Also it is not publicised that some large Italian manufacturers use economically produced Chinese internal components. This was apparent many years ago when I visited Hinkley Triumph, internal components purchased from Japanese back street foundries because Europe couldn't produce.
Interesting that Mototrans made Ducati under license for many years yet supposedly many Ducati enthusiasts look down their nose at these machines however Mototrans spent considerable R&D and introduced improvement for many years (barring the Vic Camp debacle). Common perception and reality are quite different particularly given the standard of modern Ducati build quality over the years!
