The fork bodies themselves are fine. Once you've had the internals upgraded, you should be very happy with them. You'll probably get K-Tech seals as part of the upgrade, which are, I think, better quality than the OE ones.
The only possible upgrade you could make to the fork bodies would be to have the chrome coated in either TiN or DLC to minimise stiction. But that would be another £200 minimum and you'd have to remove the fork bottoms, which can be tricky. Probably wouldn't notice much difference on the road anyway.
By the way, who have you ordered your Öhlins shock from?
