The only real reason the clips fail including the metal ones is because they are over tightened. It only has to cip the tank down. Gravity holds it down plus fuel. Maybe on the plastic tanks do they have an excuse with tank swelling but it just literally needs to clip and not rattle. Paint one black it's not the biggest issue as a replacement.
